Dean Kuriakose, Youth Congress workers hurt in clash with police
The Youth Congress leaders took out the march to the Cliff House by 12.30 p.m.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Youth Congress state president Dean Kuriakose and several workers were injured in a clash with the police during their protest march to the Chief Minister's official residence, Cliff House, demanding the ouster of transport minister Thomas Chandy on Monday. The police used water cannon, burst teargas shells and resorted to a lathicharge to disperse the protestors when they tried to jump the police barricades erected near the Devaswom Board junction.
The Youth Congress leaders took out the march to the Cliff House by 12.30 p.m. Though Mr Dean was supposed to inaugurate the protest, it turned violent before he could do it. "The police used water cannon and burst teargas shells twice.There were a few hundred Youth Congress supporters who had thronged the area demanding the ouster of Thomas Chandy," Mr Dean told DC. Some ten Youth Congress leaders underwent treatment at the medical college hospital.
