TIRUPATI: The annual Karthika Brahmotsavams in Tiruchanoor witnessed a grand spectacle on Monday. Devotees were treated to the enchanting sight of Goddess Padmavathi Devi Ammavaru taking a ride on the divine wish-fulfilling tree, Kalpavriksha Vahanam, on the fourth day of the festivities in Tiruchanoor, here.

The divine tree, Kalpavriksha, emerged during the episode of Ksheera Sagara Madhanam along with goddess Lakshmi Devi and is considered a sibling of the latter. The strong bond between the goddess and the celestial tree was evident as Ammavaru gracefully circled the four mada streets of the temple atop the Kalpavriksha Vahanam. Devotees believe that praying to the goddess during this ride fulfills their wishes.

Later in the evening, Goddess Padmavathi Devi was placed atop the Hanumanta Vahanam and taken out in a procession along the mada streets.

Hanuman, a devout follower of Lord Rama and Sita Devi, the incarnation of Adi Lakshmi, was provided with an opportunity to be the Vahana for the goddess in Kaliyuga.

Adding to the grandeur of the ongoing Brahmotsavams, the Lakshmi Kasula Haram, considered one of the most valuable and charming jewels in the treasure of Lord Venkateswara, is scheduled to be adorned to Goddess Sri Padmavathi Devi on November 14 (Tuesday) during the Gaja Vahana seva.

This exquisite jewel, comprising 500 coins imprinted with the image of Mahalakshmi, is traditionally decorated on Lord Sri Malayappa Swamy during the Garuda Seva.

However, on this special occasion, this jewel will be adorned to the goddess, symbolizing the divine connection between the deities.

Amid tight security, the Lakshmi Kasula Haram will be transported from the Srivari Temple in Tirumala on the Golden Tiruchi to the Vahana Mandapam in Tiruchanoor and then to the Ammavari temple. The temple authorities will adorn the jewel to the processional deity of the goddess, who is scheduled to take a ride on her favourite vehicle, the Gaja Vahanam on Tuesday evening.
