Hyderabad: MA&UD minister K.T. Rama Rao on Monday called on people to keep the city clean after flagging-off 1,350 Swatcch tipper autos at Sanathnagar playground. With this, GHMC will now have 4,500 Swachh autos at its disposal
Rao said that the corporation has been winning Swachh Sarvekshan awards regularly. He said the winning momentum can be kept going when people join in the clean initiatives.
He said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in keeping with his “safai anna salaam,” had increased wages of sanitation workers thrice.
Before autos were introduced, the city used to pick up around 3,500 tonnes of garbage, which has now increased to 6,500 tonnes a day, thanks to improved garbage transport system, he said.
Animal husbandry minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said the new fleet of autos will help in achieving a cleaner city.
Home minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali, mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, deputy mayor Srilatha Sobhan Reddy and GHMC commissioner Lokesh Kumar, were present on the occasion.
