Vijayawada SCR checks ticketless travel; collects ₹13.27 lakh fine

 

Vijayawada: Vijayawada division of South Central Railway (SCR) authorities took up an intensive ticket-checking drive of 63 trains on the Vijayawada-Rajahmundry. They collected penalties of ₹13.27 lakh after registering 1,973 cases.

The drive was taken up under the supervision of deputy chief commercial m J. Sukesh Deepak and senior divisional commercial manager Rambabu Vavilapalli.

They deployed 100 teams at stations and on trains, which booked 978 cases of ticketless travel, an equal number of irregular travel cases, apart from 17 un-booked luggage cases; collecting ₹8.28 lakh, ₹4.91 lakh, and ₹8,400 respectively in fines.

Sukesh Deepak said the teams also educated passengers about usage of fire extinguishers and adopting various safety measures during rail travel.
