Oath or slap? Sasikala video thumping Jayalalithaa's grave leaves Internet confused

While paying respect to the late former Chief Minister, Sasikala was seen hitting the memorial three times in short intervals.

Chennai: Former AIADMK chief VK Sasikala on Wednesday visited the memorial of J Jayalalithaa before leaving for Bengaluru to surrender before a court.

While paying respect to the late former Chief Minister, standing by the memorial at Chennai's Marina Beach, the teary-eyed Sasikala was seen hitting the memorial.

This gesture has left the Internet in a state of confusion as to what that could have meant.

While some of Sasikala's supporters said that she had "thumped" the grave as a gesture of taking an oath, the AIADMK tweet said, her thumps signified three vows: "I will overcome hurdle(s), treachery and (the) plotting (against me)."
