Public flocks to witness Day 3 of mega penance

 VIJAYAWADA: The IGMC stadium was filled with people on Sunday marking the third day of the Raja Syamala Yagam as people in large numbers thronged there for the devotional rituals and received three types of prasadasams from famous temples as also blessings of mega penance.

Endowment minister Kottu Satyanarayana performed holy rituals for the sake of the AP state and its people. The six-day-long Chandi, Rudra, Rajasyamala, Sudarshana Sahita Sri Lakshmi Mahayagam was on its third lap on Sunday.

The idols of celestial deities of famous temples in AP state were adorned in the Penance place and people in long queues stood to take darshans and offer special pujas. The priests distributed the prasadam of a famous temple every day under which, on Sunday, they offered the prasadam of Annavaram temple and of the Kanaka Durga temple. The prasadams of other temples would be offered in the next three days.

Chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy initiated the  Maha Yagam for the people to enable them prosper and live in happiness and for the faster development of the state.

The endowments minister said that this was for the first time in the history of the state that a Lakshmi Mahayagnam with 108 Kundatmaka Chandi, Rudra, Rajashyamala and Sudarshana has been held.

With the chanting of Vedic mantras, the Rutviks are performing the Yagam as per the rituals of Agama. So far, more than 600 Vedic scholars have recited the four Vedas in 4 Yagashalas. The divine wedding ceremony of Srisailam Sri Bhramarambha Mallikharjuna Swamivarla would be held on Monday evening.

The deputy CM appealed to all the devotees to visit the Yagashala and receive the Theertha Prasadam and said the devotees do not need any passes to perform the Yagam.

As part of the ritual, a special abhishekam was performed for goddess Lakshmi with waters from seven rivers, three seas and specially-brought water from Manasasarovaram. “It is hoped that all the sufferings of the devotees will end by conducting this yagam. All the people will be happy with health and longevity through Sudarshana Homam.”

Endowments Commissioner Satyanarayana, Vedanta Rajagopala Chakraborty, Durga temple EO Bhramaramba and others were present.
