Six die after drowning in two districts

ANANTAPUR: Six persons, including four children, drowned at different places in Tirupati and Anantapur districts on Sunday.

A 60-year-old grandfather Nagamani and his two grandsons Manikanta ,14, and Jagadish, 12, went fishing in Gajulayeru dam at Yelamanda village in Yerravaripalem mandal of Tirupati district. The three drowned to death when they fell into the dam.

Yerravaripalem police have registered a case and shifted the bodies for post-mortem.

In another incident, two children were playing when they accidentally fell into a canal and drowned at Singavaram village in Yellanur mandal of Anantapur district on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Kushwant, 8, and Siva Charan, 9, who came to Singaram for a housewarming ceremony from Parnavalli village in YSR district.

In the third case, a 48-year-old man was found dead under suspicious circumstances in an agricultural well at Ramachandrapuram mandal headquarters in Tirupati district on Sunday.
