Make Pondicherry green and clean, says Kiran Bedi
She called upon the people to become conscious of cleanliness to create a clean and green Puducherry that shines in all fronts.
Puducherry: Lt. Governor of Puducherry, Kiran Bedi and Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy greeted people on 70th Independence Day. In her message, Ms Bedi said the government, inspired by the Prime Minister’s Swacch Bharat, is on a mission to make Puducherry open defecation-free by October 2, 2017.
She called upon the people to become conscious of cleanliness to create a clean and green Puducherry that shines in all fronts. Mr Narayanasamy, in his message, said that his government is keen to enhance the resources of UT and to make a strong infrastructure, towards which all efforts will be made. All possibilities are there to create a model Puducherry, which is developing quickly in all fronts in all the four enclaves, the Chief Minister’s message said.
Security has been tightened in Puducherry for Independence Day celebrations with the police on alert checking thoroughly all parts of the city.
All the vehicles entering the state are being scanned. Tourists have been flocking to Puducherry for the long weekend and popular tourist spots including the beach, park and Chunnambar boat house were swarming with holidaymakers from neighbouring states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. The hotels and lodges are also being thoroughly checked by the police in view of the enhanced security alerts for I-Day.
