Modi's selfie booth turns eyes at Secunderabad railway station
HYDERABAD: The selfie booth with a life-size cutout of Prime Minister Narendra Modi installed inside the Secunderabad railway station is drawing a good number of passengers and passersby.
Designed with the hashtag # startupindia, it has been installed by the ministry of information and broadcasting at Gate 3 of Platform No. 1 to raise awareness about the initiatives taken by the Centre like Start-Up India and Clean India.
Ram Chandra, an IT professional from Chennai took a photo of his ten-year-old son Guatam, a Modi fan, beside the cutout.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle about Start-Up India, Chandra said, “It is a good initiative as it is inviting entrepreneurship and start-ups. In the coming years, dependence on jobs will be reduced.”
M. Kalyani, a secondary school teacher from Vizag, who was returning to the city, stopped by to get a picture. She said Start-Up India is providing livelihood opportunities to people in rural areas, besides empowering women.
“I believe that Modi is putting in all efforts to lead the country towards progress. India’s future is bright under his leadership,” said Kalyani.
Many passengers, part of a group, said that the selfie point was making them feel like they were standing next to the Prime Minister.
Even workers and sweepers could not keep away from the chance of clicking posterity pictures at the selfie booth.
R. Janayya, a worker for the last 20 years, clicked pictures in excitement. He said it was Modi’s photo that was the attraction and he had no idea about the start-up India initiative.
