Malayalam actress abduction: Case against P C George has Josephine get threat letters
Ms Josephine told reporters here on Thursday that she had received several threatening letters and human excreta.
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Women's Commission chairperson M. C. Josephine, who has fallen foul of Mr PC. George MLA over his comments against the assaulted actress, has also been receiving threatening letters and ‘foul matter.’ Some anti-social elements have sent human excreta by post to the KWC office in protest against the commission registering a case against Mr George for his verbal abuse of the actress.
Ms Josephine told reporters here on Thursday that she had received several threatening letters and human excreta. However, there were no death threats. She will hand them over to DGP Loknath Behera. “The commission cannot be silenced through such tactics,” she said, but refused to say whether she suspected anyone behind the threats. “Though the MLA is silent these days, some of the threatening letters have mentioned his name,” she added.
Ms Josephine clarified that there was no need for the Assembly speaker’s permission to record the MLA’s statement, except on the Assembly premises. “I’ve no liability to protect his privilege,” she added. Many prominent women from the film industry, including members of the Women in Cinema Collective, have received threats, she said. Meanwhile, State Human Rights Commission chairman P. Mohanadas sought an enquiry into the matter and directed the DGP to initiate a probe and that findings should to be completed within four weeks.
