Hyderabad: The Ramgopalpet police on Thursday registered a case against one Kanwaraj Singh alias Rakesh Bhatti, office assistant in a firm dealing with diary products, on allegations of stealing Rs 1.47 crore cash from a locker. Singh had joined six months ago and was assisting the cashier and accountant in collecting cash and depositing it in banks.

Police said that when the cashier and the accountant went on leave, his employer gave fingerprint access of the cash lockers to Singh. He retained this even after the other two personnel returned from leave.

Singh stopped reporting for duty three days ago, and his phone was switched off. On suspicion, when the employer checked the locker, he found the cash missing. Police have launched a search for Singh.
