Chennai: Student falls from terrace to death
He was immediately rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Chennai: A 14-year-old boy died after he fell from the second floor of his house while playing on the terrace in Tondiarpet on Saturday. He was immediately rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Police identified the boy as Somasekar (14) son of Mathiazhagan.
The family had been staying in an apartment complex in Kappal Polu street in Tondiarpet. Somasekar was a class seven student in a private school, while his mother is a housewife and father works in a private firm.
According to the police, on Saturday evening, Somasekar went to the terrace to play while his mother was asleep and was playing near the parapet wall when he lost his balance and fell from the second floor. Hearing the noise, neighbours rushed only to find him bleeding profusely with a severe head injury.
They rushed the boy to Stanley government hospital where he was declared brought dead. “His parents claimed the incident took place when he went to the terrace to play. They are not blaming anybody for it. Still, we are investigating the case from all possible angles” said a police officer from Tondiarpet.
