Worksheet introduced in government schools of Tamil Nadu
The worksheets are prepared for all subjects.
Chennai: In an effort to develop critical thinking among government school students, the school education department has introduced worksheets for classes 1 to 10.
“These worksheets will enable students to understand subjects and perform well in competitive exams like NMMS and NTSE and IIT entrance exams,” school education minister K.Pandiarajan told reporters here.
Speaking at the Children’s Day celebration here on Monday school education department secretary D. Sabitha said, “These worksheets are introduced for the first time. It was jointly developed by State Council for Educational Research and Training, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA)and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA).”
The worksheets are prepared for all subjects. Students from classes one to 10 will get a daily worksheet on a particular subject. “State students suffer in national level exams as our examination method gives preference to rote learning. These worksheets and open questions can increase students’ capacity and thinking skills,” officials said.
Each worksheet will have 10 questions testing various skills of students including comprehension and thinking skills. “Students will understand the lessons better and if they have any doubts they can clarify with their teachers. We already trained teachers,” the officials said.
