AP wins National Energy Conservation Award-2023

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM) won the first prize among the National Energy Conservation Awards in the State Designated Agency (SDA) Sector in Group II.

On the eve of National Energy Conservation Day on Thursday, President Droupadi Murmu presented the prestigious award for 2023 to APSECM at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.

On behalf of the AP government, special chief secretary to energy, K Vijayanand, and joint secretary to energy and chief executive officer, APSECM, BAVP, Kumara Reddy received the award from the President.

Special chief secretary to energy, K Vijayanand, said the continuous support and guidance of chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and energy minister Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy towards energy efficiency and cooperation from all the state government departments, consumers and stakeholders were the key drivers in winning the national energy conservation award.

“The government has involved all the departments to promote energy efficiency and constituted energy conservation cells with nodal officers in all departments. We implemented several energy efficiency programmes in domestic, industry and agriculture sectors, including buildings, and aimed to achieve around 5600 million units of energy savings worth a monetary savings of ' 4000 crore”, Vijayanand said.

CEO of APSECM, Kumara Reddy, thanked all departments, including industries, DISCOMs, transport, housing, roads and buildings for their contributions towards energy efficiency.
