Seven-year-old SI takes charge at Banjara Hills police station
Hyderabad: Sub-inspector Anupoju Mohan Sai, the ‘newly appointed SI’, took charge at the Banjara Hills police station on Friday. He inspected the police station, verified the records and the functioning of the police.
The new cop was all of seven years old. Affected by rectum cancer over a year ago, Mohan Sai got his wish to become a police officer fulfilled by the police, after a child care centre brought it to their notice.
The police welcomed Sai with a guard of honour, after which he assumed the seat of the sub-inspector, administration, where he was taken through the daily functioning of the police station, reception of complaints and other details. He was then taken around the police station and saw the lock-up as well.
Detective inspector Shaik Jakeer Hussain accompanied Sai and explained to him the policing initiatives. Later, the police personnel presented him with gifts.
Hailing from Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, Sai was diagnosed with cancer a year ago and has been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Banjara Hills.
