Kumbakonam railway station celebrates 141st formation day

Kumbakonam: The Thanjavur District Rail Users Association (Tandrua) celebrated the 141st formation day of Kumbakonam railway station here on Wednesday.

Members of the Kumbakonam Host Lions Club donated dustbins. Sweets were distributed to waiting passengers and those who travelled by the Cholan Express.
Sivaraman, station manager, Vasanth, station health inspector, PKT.Shanmugham, Tandrua president, A.Giri and Radhakrishnan, members, Tiruchy Divisional Rail Users Consultative Committee members were present on the occasion.
According to a press release issued here by Tandrua, Mayiladuthurai - Thanjavur rail section via Kumbakonam was opened for traffic on February 15, 1877 by the then South Indian Railway Company.
