Cops ban Holi revelry in public places

Wine shops, bars and toddy shops will remain closed from 6 am on Thursday till 6 pm on March 19

HYDERABAD: In connection with the Holi festival that falls on Friday, the Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat, on Wednesday, announced that a stringent action would be taken against anyone found throwing coloured water on persons and property smearing people with colours from 6 am on Thursday till 6 pm on March 19.

Persons moving in groups in two or four wheelers in public places causing inconveniences to the public is prohibited. Similarly, wine shops, bars and toddy shops will remain closed from 6 am on Thursday till 6 pm on March 19. If any person is found violating the rules, he or she will be prosecuted under section 76 of Hyderabad City Police Act, according to a press release issued by the city police commissioner here on Wednesday.
