Rains forecast for AP from today to Sunday
Vishakapatnam: Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30–40 kmph are likely at isolated places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, apart from south coastal AP and Rayalaseema from Thursday till Sunday.
A report from IMD Amaravati said on Wednesday that a low-level south-easterly moist air incursion is expected from Bay of Bengal into east-central, east and northeast India. The incursion will interact with the middle tropospheric westerly trough beginning from Thursday and continue till Sunday.
Similarly, a north-south trough will run from north interior Tamil Nadu to Konkan in lower tropospheric levels.
Under their influence, scattered to widespread light / moderate rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds are likely over Andhra Pradesh from Thursday, March 16, to Sunday, March 19.
Widespread light / moderate rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds of speed 40–50 kmph are likely over coastal AP. Fairly widespread light / moderate rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds of speed 30–40 Kmph could occur over Rayalaseema on Friday, March 17.
The IMD report said isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over districts of Alluri Sitharama Raju, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Palnadu, Bapatla and SPSR Nellore of coastal Andhra Pradesh on Saturday, March 18.
