It was a holy dip that ended in a tragedy for two families as their family members drowned near Sagarnagar beach.

Hyderabad: A 28-year-old Ugandan accidentally slipped from the balcony of a fourth-floor apartment in Vivekanandapuram of Neredmet, fell into an abandoned quarry adjacent to the building, and died. The deceased was identified as Mohd Salih Abdein Salih, a student of Pharmacy at Osmania University (OU). The Neredmet Police registered a case of suspicious death and started an investigation.

According to the police, Salih had been living in India for over four years. He was recently granted an extension on his student visa to be able to continue his education at Osmania University. He lived in an apartment at OU Teacher's Colony in Sainikpuri along with his roommate, Mohd Yakoob.

On Saturday, Salih went to a friends' house in Raghavendra Colony, Vivekanandapuram. There, he partied with his friends Sabra, Kelvin, Sandra, Happy, Rymond, Godwin, and Yakoob. Salih purchased alcohol for the party from a wine shop in the area.

Yakoob left the party at around midnight, and when he returned about an hour later, he saw that Salih and Sandra were not around. He was told that Sandra had left with a friend named Fredi, and Salih had gone looking for the keys of his bike. The friends assumed that Salih had decided to go back home, and so they continued partying.

On Sunday morning, neighbours saw the body of a man lying in a pool of blood, in a quarry pit around 30 feet deep. They alerted the watchman, who notified the people in the flat called the police.
