CPS employees hold 'pension march' in all districts demanding OPS
HYDERABAD: State government employees covered under the contributory pension scheme (CPS) on Sunday held 'pension constitutional march' in all the 33 district headquarters demanding restoration of the old pension scheme (OPS), which is seen as being more beneficial for them.
The employees vowed to support only those parties which promised to scrap the CPS and restore the OPS.
Thousands of employees and teachers under the aegis of TS CPS Employees Union, who were appointed after September 1, 2004, when the OPS was phased out, joined the protest.
Union president G. Sthitaprajna, general secretary Kalavala Srikanth and treasurer Naresh Goud along with employees held a rally from LB Stadium to Ambedkar circle at Liberty crossroads here and submitted a representation to statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar.
Sthitaprajna, general secretary of the National Movement for OPS, an umbrella organisation of CPS employees of all states, said rallies were held on Sunday nationwide as part of the agitation.
