Gudur: Shift RRR alignment away from ORR

Update: 2023-04-16 18:45 GMT

HYDERABAD: State BJP leader Gudur Narayana Reddy demanded that the state government shift the Regional Ring Road (RRR) 22 km away, beyond the east and North of Yadadri to protect the livelihoods of hundreds of micro and small farmers.

Narayana Reddy was speaking after touring Raigiri, Erramballi, Proddutur, Mandapur and Varkatpalli villages on Sunday and interacting with the farmers whose lands have been identified for the acquisition for the construction of the RRR, despite their protests.

He said that the alignment of the RRR as it stood now would dislocate farmers on a large scale and make their lives miserable. “Development at the cost of lives of hundreds of farmers and their families is not desirable,” the BJP leader said.

Narayana Reddy said that BRS MLA had put the farmers on the chopping block to save their interests. The state government had approved the alignment to protect the land holdings of Chief Minister K. Chandrasehkar Rao in Gajwel, he alleged.
