KCR gives Rs 2.50 cr reward to chess grandmaster Praneet, Rs 50 lakh to Nandita

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Monday announced a ₹2.50 crores reward for Telangana chess player Praneeth Vuppala who became India’s 82nd Grandmaster on Sunday. The CM also announced a ₹50 lakhs reward to 19-year-old chess champion, Veerlapalli Nandita.

The CM expressed delight at 16year old Praneeth qualifying for the World Chess Federation Grandmaster status. The CM called Praneeth and his parents to the Secretariat on Monday and greeted the chess champion and congratulated his parents.

The CM hoped Praneeth would reach greater heights and bring laurels and fame to Telangana state and India. The CM said the government would extend all cooperation to Praneeth. Praneeth's parents thanked CM for his gesture.

The CM also congratulated Veerlapalli Nandita on being recognised as a Woman Candidate Master by the World Chess Federation. The CM announced ₹50 lakhs to Nandita to undergo advanced training and for other expenses.
