Thiruvananthapuram: Ksheerasagaram has introduced ‘Pasu Sakhi’, a new project to help women who would like to foray into dairy farming. Unlike ‘Ksheerasagaram’, an earlier project, this one offers women training so that they can even start from scratch.

A Community Resource Person will be attached to each woman’s group, who will then facilitate training of the women.

From across the state, 250 women will be chosen and provided training to become Community Resource Persons. They will be equipped to provide women entrepreneurs information regarding loans and schemes which will help them. If the woman’s group needs technical assistance, the Community Resource Persons will rope in experts to help them.

The project’s primary aim is to empower women, but it also aims at increasing the production of milk, meat and eggs. It will help make the ‘Ksheerasagaram’, and ‘Naturefresh’ projects popular in more panchayats.

The ‘Ksheerasagaram’ project assists women in buying a cow, and ‘Naturefresh’ project is aimed at increasing the marketing of milk.
