Pourakarmika suicide: Dr G Parameshawar visits kin, hands over compensation

The Minister said Subramani's death has caused deep pain. All pending dues of pourakarmikas will be settled in a week.

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshawar visited the family of Subramani, the pourakarmika who committed suicide allegedly due to delay in salary, and handed over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh.

The Minister said Subramani's death has caused deep pain. All pending dues of pourakarmikas will be settled in a week.

Subramani was employed by contractor and they had not paid the dues for the past six months.

After the tragedy a red faced BBMP had ordered for the settlement of payment of dues to pourakarmikas to the tune of '27 crore.

It was also decided that pourakarmikas who have less than one year service shall be paid and relieved from their duty and those with more than a year of service shall be enrolled under ESI and PF.
