Hyderabad: Cop’s son returning from I-Day fete dies in mishap

Hyderabad: A 14-year-old student who was returning home after the Independence Day celebrations at his school was killed in a hit and run accident on Wednesday. The victim was identified as Md Aziz Ahamed, son of Saifabad traffic police head constable Md Khadeer.

Ahamed’s friend Md Jakin who was walking with him escaped with minor injuries. The mishap occurred 50 metres from the Tolichowki flyover.

Witnesses said Ahamed, a resident of Retigalli in Golconda, was hit by an MUV (TS07 UA 1850) whose driver abandoned the vehicle and fled after the mishap. Passersby rushed Ahamed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead with a head injury.

Lunger Houz inspector L. Ramesh Naik said the accident occurred at about 11.30 am. The police booked a case under Section 304(a) (causing death by negligence) and seized the vehicle. Efforts are made to nab the driver.

The MUV was registered in the name of Shivamma Banoth and has two challans, one for violation of stop line in Madhapur and another for wrong parking at Goshamahal.
