TN DGP hails police toil for Athi Varadar
DGP Tripathy told his officers and policemen/women on duty there to continue their good work unmindful of fault-finders.
Chennai: TN Director General of Police L K Tripathy has warmly complimented his forces deployed for the bandobust duty at the Sri Devarajaswamy Temple for exemplary skills in managing the huge turnout of devotees for the darshan of Athi Varadar.
In a statement issued close on the heels of an unpleasant incident recently at the shrine, involving District Collector Ponnaiah and a junior police officer managing the queues for the darshan of Athi Varadar, DGP Tripathy told his officers and policemen/women on duty there to continue their good work unmindful of fault-finders.
“Tamil Nadu police has always handled all challenges with utmost professionalism, thanks to the tireless efforts and dedication of the rank and file of our prestigious police force,” said the DGP in his morale-boosting message to his forces. The visuals of the Collector berating the hapless cop and even threatening to suspend him from service had gone viral on the social media, leading to the IPS officers’ association issuing a statement expressing anguish.
Known for his sensitive handling of issues and people-whether his forces or the public-Tripathy said, “With around two lakh devotees visiting the temple everyday for the past six weeks, our police personnel are doing a scintillating job in peaceful conduct of and facilitation of the devotees.”
“Every policeman /policewoman in the area has made a tryst with history in this moment of glory,” the DGP said, adding that the media bears ample witness to his asser-tions.
“This once in a forty years spectacle has truly metamorphosed into a successful event only because of the indefatigable efforts of our police personnel, braving tough weather and minimal personal comforts,” said DGP Tripathy, while asking the forces to continue their good work until the successful completion of the Athi Varadar bandobust on August 17 (Saturday).
