Telangana leads the pack in acreage: Speaker Pocharam
Kamareddy: Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said that Telangana state was at the top position in the agriculture and cultivation area in the country with proactive steps taken by the state government. The acreage has been increased to 2.18 crore acres from one crore acre, he said.
The Speaker, who took part in I-Day celebrations in Kamareddy on Tuesday, said the agriculture sector was a top priority for the state government, which is providing Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima and 24x7 free power supply to farmers, apart from ensuring MSP.
So far, '2,501 crore were disbursed to 2.96 lakh farmers in 11 tranches and '295 crore of Rythu Bima was handed over to the kin of 5,895 deceased farmers, he said, adding, around 698 minorities would get '1 lakh financial aid soon in the district. The brimming Nizamsagar, Pocharam and Koulas Nala projects will irrigate the command area, he said.
Pocharam said the medical college for Kamareddy and the nursing college for Banswada were sanctioned with all facilities. Banswada maternity hospital stood fourth at the national level in breastfeeding, he said. He presented appreciation certificates to the best employees on the occasion.
MLAs Hanmanth Shinde, Jajala Surender, ZP chairperson Dafedar Shobha, municipal chairperson Jahnavi, collector Jitesh V. Patil and SP B.Srinivas Reddy were present.
