Tension in few colleges after police stop protests
Vijayawada: Several colleges in Vijayawada asked their students not to participate in any protest programme on the college premises over the arrest of former chief minister and TD national president N. Chandrababu Naidu. As a precautionary measure, police reached these colleges and sent the students out.
Heated arguments started between students and police in VR Siddhartha Engineering College. But the situation turned normal after the college authorities declared a holiday. Earlier, students of the college had planned to conduct a protest against the arrest of Chandrababu. They circulated messages on their social media groups in this regard.
TD national general secretary Nara Lokesh expressed anger against police over the Siddhartha college affair. He maintained that students had only wanted to protest peacefully against Chandrababu's illegal arrest. But the police acted as though it was an emergency.
