TTD housing sites for retired employees; CM allocates additional land
Tirupati: Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy announced on Friday that the retired TTD employees will be granted housing sites. This is seen as a major relief to the ageing workforce.
The announcement came during his visit to inspect various development projects, including Srinivasa Sethu and TTD employees' housing sites, as well as the Sri Gangamma temple in Tirupati.
The TTD chairman said Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has agreed to allocate an additional 200 acres for providing housing to retired TTD employees. This allocation is in addition to the 300 acres of land previously designated for the current TTD employees.
The chairman said, "There need not be any disappointment among our retired TTD employees. Based on our request, the chief minister has asked the district collector to initiate the land acquisition process.”
He said the Rs. 684 crore Srinivasa Sethu elevated expressway project would be inaugurated by the CM on September 18. “This project will be a unique landmark in the temple city and it will be open for public use from Sept 19,” he said.
The TTD chairman also informed that the CM would visit the Thataiahagunta Gangamma temple in Tirupati during his visit to Tirumala to present silk robes to Lord Venkateswara on the occasion of Srivari Brahmotsavams. “During his visit, the CM will revive the age-old tradition of Darshan of the Folk Goddess Gangamma, preceding the Srivari Darshan,” he said.
