Crowd funded Food and Beverage ATM launched in Coimbatore

Anybody can deposit food materials in the 'Food and Beverage ATM.'

Coimbatore: As part of World Food Day celebrations, a 'Crowd Funded Food and Beverage ATM (refrigerator)' was launched in Coimbatore on Sunday.

The initiative was launched by students of Bannari Ammal Institute of Technology, throuigh crowd funding, in front of a popular cloth store near Town Hall, under the auspices of 'No Food Waste', an NGO.

Anybody can deposit food materials in the 'Food and Beverage ATM.'

"Those who are hungry can access the ATM, with a coupon given to them and a security staff there will provide the food articles," No Food Waste founder, G Padmanabhan said.

The students have plans to instal five more fridges across the city, he said adding his organisation already has such an ATM in the city.
