Kanyakumari: A ‘flying object’ resembling an unmanned aerial vehicle reportedly noticed at some fishermen villages in Kanyakumari district created flutter in the region, where civil work for two more reactors of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project formally commenced on Saturday.

Though the Q branch police and the Colachel marine police in the district denied having received any concrete information about the mysterious flying object, some of the fishermen in the coastal hamlets of Sothaivilai and Neerodi claimed that they had seen such an object flying very low over the sea at around 7 pm on Friday. A similar object too was said to have witnessed by people in the coastal hamlets on Saturday morning.

The Colachel marine police, who were on routine patrol along the coast the same night, however, said that they had not noticed any such thing in the sky. The police, however, added that they have increased vigil along the coast, as the place is closer to critical installations like the Kudankulam Nuclear power project and the ISRO propulsion complex.
