Hyderabad: The Centre on Satur-day sanctioned six triggers to the state to monitor mines under the Mining Surveillance System.

The system includes a pan-India surveillance network using satellite technology, to check illegal mining.

Launching the system through a video conference from Delhi, mines minister Piyush Goyal hoped the technology would ensure sustainable utilisation of the country’s mineral resources.

“MSS will trigger an alarm whenever there is an instance of illegal mining outside permitted areas,” he said.
