Puducherry: One man was arrested for allegedly trying to distribute money to voters in Nellithope assembly constituency, which is going to polls on Saturday.
District Election Officer and Collector Sathyendra Singh Dursawat, while travelling in a car on Monday along with a flying squad, found an old woman with a xerox copy of her ration card at Saram area here.

On being questioned, the woman revealed that she was asked to come with xerox copy of her ration card to get money for vote.

On further enquiry, the woman said that a man, identified as Thyagarajan of Sakthi Nagar area, who was standing besides her, asked to come there. He was arrested immediately and a case registered against him. Further investigation is on. With just four days remaining for the polls, campaigning reached its peak in Nellithoppe.

At the same time though flying squads are busy in the constituency to prevent any move against the Model Code of Conduct, cash and gifts are being freely distributed among the voters, reports say.
