26 of total 33 districts in Telangana have no Covid-19 containment zones

Hyderabad: As many as 26 of the state’s 33 districts no longer have Covid-19 containment zones, according to the state health department.

These districts between them reported 4,691 fresh infections of the Coronavirus in the week ending November 15 as per Monday’s edition of the daily Covid-19 bulletin issued by the health department.

Rajanna-Sircilla district had the most containment zones – 66 – followed by 63 in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area with 63 as on 8 pm on Sunday, the bulletin said. The only other districts with containment zones are Jagtial, Mahbubnagar, Nirmal, Ranga Reddy and Wanaparthy.

In the GHMC limits, Charminar zone had 16 containment zones, Khairatabad 20, Serilingampally 16, Kukatpally 11 and Secunderabad zone had one.

Data provided in the bulletin showed that Sangareddy topped list of containment zone-free districts with 593 cases for the week ending November 15, followed by Medchal-Malkajgiri with 560.

Bhadradri-Kothagudem had 410 cases, Nalgonda 380, Karimnagar 316, Khammam 293, Warangal Urban 251, Siddipet 170 and Suryapet had 161 cases.

Mancherial had 154 cases, Nizamabad 143, Nagarkurnool 142, Peddapalli 126, Mahbubabad 111, Kamareddy 101, Jayashankar Bhupalapalli 100 among such districts.

The districts reporting fewer than 100 cases where containment zones were removed included: Mulugu with 99 cases, Vikarabad 95, Yadadri-Bhongir 88, Warangal Rural 87, Medak 79, Jangaon 77, Adilabad 64, Jogulamba-Gadwal 49,  Komaram Bheem-Asifabad 25 and Narayanpet had 17 cases for the week ending November 15.
