Hopes renewed for function halls, marriage related segments
2,000 kalyana mandapams in the 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh will witness activity in the next three months
VIJAYAWADA: Marriage halls, caterers, event managers, priests and allied sectors, associated with social customs, had all lost their livelihood because of Covid restrictions. But now they are set to be on track with the marriage season set to take off from Tuesday.
According to reports, nearly 2,000 kalyana mandapams, marriage halls, function halls, mini function halls, shadikhanas and community halls exist in the 13 districts and these are to witness activity in the next three months.
Vedic pandit P. Raghavendarcharylu said that most priests faced severe financial difficulties in the past eight months. He said that he used to suggest auspicious mahurats for marriages to parents but only few responded. He said that the commencement of the marriage season, despite the limitations, would help them and other related segments get work. He said that in the past few days he had suggested muhurats to around 60 families.
Function hall manager D. Rama Rao said that many halls and other facilities have been booked for marriages. He said that they had cleaned and disinfected the halls thoroughly and would follow Covid protocol strictly.
Caterer and event manager R. Srinivas said that coronavirus had disturbed lives of people associated with such functions. He hoped people abide by the guidelines and help contain Coronavirus spread.
