Koppal district to have tech-based drainage system
Koppal: Backward Classes Welfare, Kannada, and Culture Department Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi has announced the proposal to have a tech-based drainage system in Koppal district, akin to the model near Bengaluru airport.
The project would be started in Koppal after getting the green signal from the cabinet.
Tangadagi made this announcement while laying the foundation stone for the works valued at Rs 1,799.76 lakh under the Chief Minister's Amrutha Nagarothana Phase-IV scheme near Basaveshwara Circle in the city on Wednesday.
Tangadagi said that a proposal for the construction of advanced drainage systems in Tavaragera, Kukanur, Yelaburga, Kanakagiri, and Karatagi has been submitted. The tender process will proceed once the cabinet provides its approval.
Emphasizing the importance of quality and timely completion, Tangadagi cautioned officials that they would be held accountable if the project did not meet the specified standards. He warned contractors of strict action if deadlines were not met.
Speaking about holistic development plans for Koppal district, Tangadagi said, "We envision comprehensive development for the entire Koppal district. Numerous initiatives are underway, including securing Rs 500 crore for various drinking water projects to benefit the Kukanur, Karatagi, and Kanakagiri taluks which are on the path of development."
MLA K. Raghavendra Hitnal who presided over the event, highlighted the rapid growth of Koppal city, noting the surge in vehicular traffic.
He assured the public that plans for road widening were in place, with efforts to expedite fund allocation and initiate the necessary construction work.
