HYDERABAD: A petition has been filed before the Telangana High Court seeking a direction to reject the nomination papers of excise minister V. Srinivas Goud, from the Mahbubnagar constituency. The petition also sought the transfer of IAS and IPS officials in Mahbubnagar for allegedly helping the minister.

The petitioner, Chaluvagali Raghavendra Raju, filed a petition objecting to the election affidavit filed by Srinivas Goud stating that the minister had suppressed information regarding a case pending against him — FIR. No. 241/2023 registered in II Town police station of Mahbubnagar.

The case was filed against Goud in 2018 for suppressing and concealing information in the election affidavit. The case reached the Supreme Court, which also issued Goud a notice. The 2018 case against Goud was also filed by Raju.

As the Mahbubnagar returning officer failed to give a reply to his complaint, the petitioner moved the High Court.
