Gas leak causes flutter in Vizag
VISHAKHAPATNAM: Ammonia gas leaked from an abandoned tank located in the premises of the National Institute of Fisheries Post Harvest Technology and Training (NIFPHATT) under the One Town police station created a flutter in the fisher folk colony and neighbourhood on Thursday evening.
According to reports, hundreds of women and men rushed to the spot to talk to the management of the institute as some of them started vomiting and suffered mild headaches. They were terrified because the city had recently witnessed several serious incidents.
We received information at about 9.30 pm and immediately rushed to the spot along with fire tenders. By then, the leakage had reduced. We also dispersed the crowd gathered at the institute alleging negligence, said One Town police station Inspector Revathamma.
