Legends assemble for Ezhuthachan drama
19 poets, 25 music directors, 30 singers come together.
Thiruvananthapuram: The new drama on Ezhuthachan will feature songs written by 19 poets including O.N.V. Kurup, Sugathakumari and K. Satchidanandan that will be set to tune by 25 music directors including M.K. Arjunan,Vidyasagar and Ganga Amaran. Perhaps it would be for the first time such a galaxy of stars come together to be part of a single professional drama.
These songs will be rendered by 30 singers including M.G. Sreeku-mar, K.S. Chitra and Sujatha. The first show of the drama written by Muhad Vembayam and directed by Meenamba-lam Santhosh and produced by the professional drama troupe Aksharakala Thiruvananthapuram was inaugurated by Administrative reforms commission chairperson V .S. Achuthanandan at 6 p.m. at Tagore Theatre here.
Mr Muhad told Deccan Chronicle that the play has Malayalam language as the main theme in the backdrop of life of Thunchathu Ezhutha-chan who is considered as the father of Malayalam language. The drama is being designed in such a way that it can be staged in open air without a stage.
The play would also feature the pledges penned by writers M.T. Vasu-devan Nair, Sugathaku-mari, O.N.V. Kurup and Prabha Varma. Music and poetry is an important highlight of the drama which was aimed at pinning the importance of Malayalam in the life of Malayalis, said Muhad.
