Numaish attracted nearly 23 lakh visitors this year
HYDERABAD: The agonizing Covid-induced break was more than adequately compensated this year with the 82nd edition of Numaish reporting a record footfall of 22,96,000 visitors during the 46-day extravaganza that concluded here on Thursday.
It was a joyous outing not only for the visitors of every age-group who made
it to the ‘must visit’ January 1 to February 16 destination and the organising committee but also for the 1800 stall owners, who are taking home more than the expected earnings this year.
Doing brisk business, as during the pre-pandemic days, were those into garments, women's accessories, Lucknowi, chikan, Kashmiri dresses, dry fruits, Kerala halwa, Agra peda and Pakistani dresses.
Old-timers who made it to the exhibition this year included NRIs from the
city, who were in town.
James Amberapeta from Florida said “I took the opportunity to make it on the
last day along with my friend from Washington DC. This was our first visit in 30 years. We bought some traditional clothing and recalled those wonderful days spent here.”
Jagan Mohan Bukkaraju, residing in Chicago, said “I was here on a personal
visit. I made sure to be at the numaish. The metro connectivity is so convenient. I bought some kurtas.”
According to Aditya Margan, secretary of AIIE society, “the society suffered heavily because of Covid in 2021 and 2022. This year all shops reported good sales while the visitors were delighted at getting good deals. Apart from 70 salaried employees, the society outsourced 1,000 workers to make a grand success of this edition.”
