HYDERABAD: Turmeric farmers have intensified their agitation against the steep fall in prices of turmeric. Farmers from Armoor in the Nizamabad district have decided to stage a series of agitations.

Turmeric price per quintal has hit an all-time low of Rs 5,000 for which the farmers are blaming agriculture market committee officials. They alleged that some traders have formed a syndicate through which they have forced a fall in prices.

In their anger, some farmers locked the office of the market committee in Nizamabad recently.
