VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh government has enlarged the YSR Shaadi Tohfa scheme by including four more castes. The Dudekulu, Noorbasha, Pinjari, and Ladaff castes, which fall under BC-B and practise Islam, will now receive financial assistance of ₹1 lakh against the present ₹50,000.

These communities had been put in the YSR Kalyanamastu marriage scheme, wherein they used to get ₹50,000 as aid.

Under the Shaadi Tohfa scheme initiated on October 1, 2020, financial assistance of Rs. 1 lakh is provided to minority couples when they get married. The amount is directly deposited into the beneficiaries' accounts.

Responding to requests from various Dudekula associations, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy decided to include the four castes in YSR Shaadi Tohfa. Secretary to state government (minority welfare), Md Imtiaz, issued the order.
