TD demands CBI probe into Rayalaseema scam
VIJAYAWADA: Public Accounts Committee (PAC) member and Telugu Desam MLA Payyavula Kesav said on Sunday that the elders of the Tadepalli Palace were now feeling sleepless due to the exposure of ₹900 crore of scam in the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project and demanded a CBI probe into the scam. He stated that the TD welcomed the acceptance of the CBI probe into the whole issue by water resources minister Ambati Rambabu.
Talking to the media, he demanded clarification on whether the ₹900 crore loan had been raised either for the Rayalaseema project investigation works or for project, construction works. The state government had even taken the court for a ride by submitting an affidavit that the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Works would not be taken up. Without informing the PFC and RIC about submitting this affidavit before the court, this loan had been raised, thus cheating even these Central agencies, he added.
Kesav made it clear that the state government was playing a double game by deceiving both the courts and the people. He is of the opinion that the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project funds are being misused and demanded a CBI inquiry into the whole issue to bring the facts to light.
