Chennai: Though the results were announced a day ahead of schedule, private colleges and deemed universities are still unsure as to how to proceed with admissions.

The CBSE has ended the long wait of medical aspirants seeking admission in the all India quota in state medical colleges and private medical colleges and deemed universities by releasing the medical entrance test results on Tuesday.

Though the results were announced, private colleges and deemed universities are not sure about how to proceed with admissions.

“We are waiting for the guidelines from the government. Based on the letter we received from the Union health ministry, the admission counselling for private medical colleges and deemed universities will be conducted by the State governments,” said J.S.N. Murthy, Vice-chancellor, SRMC.

“The counselling is to be held between August 21 and 25. Students under the all India quota are to go to Delhi for counselling by the central government,” he said. Students are supposed to join the colleges by the first week of September.
“We are ready for whatever we are asked to do,” he added.

Sunil Chandy, director, Christian Medical College at Vellore said, “We are waiting for a directive. Unless we have some basic guidelines, we cannot say what the next step would be.”

“We cannot proceed with application forms until we get any notice. We do not know anything beyond the fact that counselling is to be held soon,” said V. Kanagasabai, Registrar, Bharath University.
