Woman, son die in bus-car smash at Dwaraka

The passengers of the bus and local people joined in the rescue operations soon after the accident.

The mangled remains of the car which met with an accident at Dwaraka near Mananthavadi, Wayanad on Tuesday.

Kalpetta: A mother and her  son were killed when the car in which they were travelling along with other family members collided with a bus at Dwaraka near Mananthavadi on Tuesday morning. The victims were identified as Rathappalli Mary, 60,  wife of Paul  of Tharuvana and son Cyril, 29.  Cyril was driving the  car. The accident occurred when the car was trying to overtake another vehicle.  Paul and Cyril’s son Dawn were hospitalised with injuries.

CyrilThe family was returning after consulting a doctor on the treatment of Cyril. The front portion of the car was completed damaged. Both the mother and the son died on the spot. The passengers of the bus and local people joined in the rescue operations soon after the accident.

Dawn was first admitted to  a private hospital at Manant - havadi and later at another hospital at Meppadi. The bodies of the victims were shifted to their house at Tharuvana by evening. Their last rites  would be held at Chavara Kuriakkose Church, Puthiyadam on Wednesday. Cyril is survived by wife Linta and sister Sherin.
