Arrangements for Ganesh Utsavam
Hyderabad: Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said the government was gearing up for Ganesha Utsavam which would start from August 31. He was speaking at a meeting to discuss the management and arrangements for the festival to be taken up from August 24.
Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Yadav said, “We will ensure that devotees and festival organisers do not face any trouble and precaution will be taken. Arrangements are being made to distribute six lakh clay idols, (four lakh by the GHMC, one lakh each by the Pollution Control Board and the HMDA.”
“Barricades are being set up by the roads and buildings department so that the devotees who visit the Lord Ganesha idol of Khairatabad do not face any difficulties, he said.
In addition to the 25 ponds in different areas of the city, another 50 ponds have been constructed for the immersion of idols. Infrastructure supervision such as repairs and development of roads, lighting, generators, life guards, swimmers, cranes, sanitation etc. will be monitored by a team of 8,000 staff belonging to the GHMC. They will be on duty for three shifts on September 9, the day of Ganesh immersion, the minister said.
There will be special police, monitoring peace and security along with mufti, shadow and She Teams. The members of the Ganesh Utsav Committee and the general public have been requested to cooperate for the peaceful conduct of Ganesh Navrathi,” Srinivas Yadav said.
City police commissioner C.V. Anand, home minister Md. Mahmood Ali, Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi and Deputy Mayor Srilatha along with other officials and representatives participated in the meeting.
