VIJAYAWADA: Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Adimulapu Suresh said on Tuesday that the AP government is working to make the cities clean and green.

During the day, the minister laid the stones for various works in the Vijayawada West assembly constituency.

Suresh along with Vijayawada West MLA Velampalli Srinivasa Rao and Mayor Rayana Bhagyalakshmi inaugurated the renovated VMC's KL Rao Park Swimming Pool, built with `90 lakh. With this, VMC has been building three pools in the three assembly constituencies.

Minister Suresh said all cities and towns in the state would be made plastic-free.  He urged the people not to use plastic. Use jute or cloth bags in place of plastic, he said.

The state government is taking steps to complete the stadium in the West constituency as early as possible. All cities should develop as dustbin-free cities, he said.

Minister Suresh said, "For better management of solid waste and liquid waste, the state government is providing PPE kits to sanitation workers. CM Jagan enhanced the wages of sanitation workers and provided them with health allowance. AP is the only state that has enhanced the wages for sanitation workers."

Vijayawada West MLA Srinivasa Rao said his constituency has been developing for the past three years. VMC is spending crores of rupees to provide better amenities to the people in the city, he said.

Mayor Rayana Bhagyalakshmi said Vijayawada was neglected by the TD government. “The YSRC is implementing all development works on a war footing basis. Swimmers can now use the renovated KL Park's swimming pool,” she said.

Later, Minister Suresh, MLA Srinivas, and Mayor Bhagyalakshmi distributed cloth bags to the people. They also distributed PPE kits to the UGD cleaning staff.
