70K 2BHKs set for distribution: KTR
Hyderabad: The BRS government on Wednesday announced that the distribution of 2BHK houses to eligible beneficiaries in GHMC limits would start within a week, with 70,000 houses to be distributed in GHMC limits in six phases.
The government also decided to speed up the selection of beneficiaries for the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, under which Rs 3 lakh financial aid will be provided for house construction.
The decisions were taken in a meeting headed by IT minister K.T. Rama Rao to discuss the Assembly election strategy, pending projects, developmental programmes and implementation of welfare schemes. Ministers Talasani Srinivas Yadav, P. Sabitha Indra Reddy, Md. Mahmood Ali, Ch. Malla Reddy and Deputy Speaker T. Padma Rao Goud took part in the meeting, besides senior GHMC officials.
In the meeting, officials informed the ministers that the construction of 70,000 houses was completed and they were ready for distribution. The officials said that the process of handing over houses to eligible beneficiaries is progressing at a brisk pace and the verification process of applicants, who have already submitted their applications, was nearing completion.
Rama Rao said that against the target to construct one lakh 2BHK houses in the GHMC limits, 75,000 double-bedroom houses were constructed. Of these, nearly 4,500 houses were already handed over to in-situ beneficiaries. Nearly 70,000 houses are ready to be handed over to the beneficiaries.
The minister said that the distribution of houses under the first phase will begin within a week and asked the GHMC officials to make preparations to this end.
Stating that the city public was eagerly awaiting the distribution of 2BHK houses, the ministers gave suggestions regarding the distribution of the houses.
They said that officials were identifying beneficiaries through field visits, devoid of political interference, and also decided to speed up the Gruha Lakshmi scheme.
