Kin Stage Protest with Woman's Body Over Doctors' Negligence
Hyderabad: Alleging that a 26-year-old woman had died due to negligence of doctors, her family members staged a protest with the body in front of the hospital in Dammapeta of Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Thursday.
According to police, one Nandini was admitted to a private nursing home in Dammapeta on August 3 with complaints of stomach pain. The doctors informed the family members that there was a tumour in her stomach, which could be removed by surgery. The same day, doctors performed the surgery and removed the tumour.
However, a few days later, she started getting the same pain in the stomach. The doctors asked her family to shift the patient to Hyderabad for proper treatment.
"The family members shifted the patient to Hyderabad on Wednesday night. She died while undergoing treatment. Furious at the negligence of Dammapeta hospital doctors, the family members staged a protest with the body, including on the Dammapeta-Palvancha stretch seeking justice," police said.
As the traffic movement came to a standstill, police visited the place and tried to convince the family members, who demanded action against surgeons. Based on the complaint, police registered cases against the doctors who had performed the surgery and shifted the body to the district government hospital for post-mortem.
