Focus on seasonal diseases: Dy CM Budi

Visakhapatnam: Deputy chief minister Budi Mutyala Naidu asked the people’s representatives and officials to keep a watch on seasonal diseases like malaria, dengue, and viral fevers.

In a review meeting on developmental activities of the S Kota assembly constituency held in Vizianagaram on Saturday, the deputy chief minister said the medical and health officials should also get ready for the launch of Jagananna Suraksha, which would help in identifying diseases in the villages.

In the review meeting, discussions were also held on housing, agriculture, irrigation, health, electricity, and roads and buildings.

Speaking on the occasion, Mutyala Naidu said both health and panchayat raj officials should focus on the seasonal diseases and ensure bleaching and spraying of all villages as a preventive measure. He said special camps would be held from September 30 as part of the Jagananna Suraksha programme, and tests should be conducted on 17 lakh people in Vizianagaram district.

On agriculture, he asked officials to make the farmer upload their details to e-crop. He also asked the officials of roads and buildings to complete the building of RBKs, sachivalayas, and wellness centres by the end of October.

Highlighting the problems of the constituency, local MLA K. Srinivasa Rao said works worth Rs 1.7 crore were completed, but the contractors got only '17 lakh. He said all the potholes on the main roads needed to be repaired on an urgent basis. He said bills regarding the development of the layout for Jagananna colonies were still pending.
